Who is Mick Sleeper

Mick Sleeper was born around the same time that The Upsetters were recording "Return Of Django" in 1969. Reggae didn't impress him when he first heard it as a teenager, but later on a love for 2 Tone ska and The Clash inspired him to seek out the original Jamaican sounds. By his mid-20s, he made up for lost time and became a dedicated reggaeologist, totally enthusiastic about all periods of Jamaican music.

In 1994, he began hosting a reggae program on a community radio station which further cemented his love for the music. At the same time, he created the first website dedicated to the work of reggae legend Lee "Scratch" Perry (http://www.upsetter.net/scratch), which eventually attracted an audience from The Upsetter himself. Since then, Mick has created other reggae related websites, including one dedicated to Roman Stewart (http://www.upsetter.net/roman), that are well known to reggae fans around the world.

Over the years, Mick has interviewed and profiled many movers and shakers in reggae including Desmond Dekker, Alton Ellis, Mikey Dread, Toots Hibbert, Ansel Collins, Lynn Taitt, and Carlton Patterson. He has been a guest selecter on radio shows in Australia, Germany and also contibuted to the famous BBC program On The Wire. In 2009, Mick started Ring The Alarm (http://podcast.upsetter.net), a podcast where he indulges in his love of music further.

When he's not working on a new podcast, Mick can be found on his bike, cooking jerk chicken, or doing his best to avoid computers. He lives in Edmonton, Canada.
