Island Records marks 50 years of Jamaican independence.

Sound System - The Story Of Jamaican MusicTo celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jamaican independence Island Records has put out an eight disc box set, accompanied by a hard backed book by writer Chris Salewicz and photographer Adrian Boot, titled 'Sound System - The Story of Jamaican Music'.

The box set is compiled by Ramus, who worked alongside Chris Blackwell in the label’s early years, and Paul Smykle. It features 120 songs and showcases Jamaica’s eclectic music, including R&B, mento, ska, blue beat, reggae, dub and funk.
