Trojan Records' story in movie

New gift from Trojan Records for their 50th anniversary.

Launched in 1968 in London by Jamaican expats Lee Gopthal and Chris Blackwell, Trojan Records celebrate this year its 50th anniversary. At that occasion, Trojan Records team is plotting a year-long celebration of its history, special rissues, taking in a series of live events, catalogue music releases, definitive coffee table book about a wealth of stories and a documentary called Rudeboy: The Story of Trojan Records. The teaser was just released.

The movie is produced by BMG and Pulse Films, and directed by Nicolas Jack Davies. It combines archive footage, freshly shot interviews and drama. Rudeboy tells the story of Trojan Records by putting it at the epicentre of a cultural revolution that unfolded in the council estates and shanty towns of the late 60’s and 70’s. The story telling includes a cast of legendary artists such as Lee ‘Scratch' Perry, Toots Hibbert, Ken Boothe, Neville Staple, Marcia Griffiths, Dave Barker, Dandy Livingstone, Lloyd Coxsone, Pauline Black, Derrick Morgan and more.
