Big Youth is one of most popular deejay from the 1970’s along U Roy.
Big Youth aka Manley Augustus Buchanan aka Jah Youth was born in 1955 in Kingston, Jamaica. After some hard beginnings, he released “Movie Man” in 1972 on African Museum, Gregory Isaacs’ label. Followed "Chi Chi Run" produced by Prince Buster and “S. 90 Skank” in 1972 which stroke his first sucess. He also created his own labels, Negust Negast and Agustus Buchanan upon which he released several singles and albums such as "Rock Holy" in 1980.
Big Youth is an original artist who got his own style in deejaying. He doesn’t content of light songs and often adresses messages to the youths through out conscious lyrics about education, spirituality, rasta faith and love.
