Barbara Smith, better known as Lady Ann, was born in Jubilee, and raised in Western Kingston (also known as Kingston 13). She began in sound systems in the late 70's along side deejays Little John and Ranking Toyan. In 1978 she recorded his first songs, Plan Your Family featuring Ranking Toyan and Shine Eye Boy. Then in the early 80's she released three albums (Vanity, Informer and Lady Ann). She is now living in Brooklyn, New York and comes back in 2008 with a new album titled Bad Gal Inna Dance with trumpet player and producer djMush1 from Brooklyn.
