You feel alone, silence is heavy. Even regulated by the best sounds from Jamaica, daily life is hard. If you know what I’m talking about, the new album from Lukie D is for you. A true ray of sunshine.
A spark seldom shoots out of the dark, but sometimes, you just have to listen to a good disc as Here I Am to know how to talk about love. With poetry, the Jamaican sings with conviction, lyrics full of love and respect. We’re charmed.
Michael Kennedy aka Lukie D is a soulful voiced singer. Born in 1972 in Kingston, he released his debut album Center Of Attraction for VP Records in 1996. Over the years, he had set his style and his rythm.
From the acapella open track ‘Look At Us Now’ to his new version of The Heptones’ ‘Book Of Rules’, Lukie D delivers 15 songs that will delight dancehall and roots fans. In love on ‘My Love (Does It Good)’, adapted from a song of Paul McCartney, touched on ‘Since you’ve been gone’, and spiritual on ’Prophecy Reveal’. With 7 albums to his name, the Jamaican singer, active since 10 years, shows that he improves with each of his new set.
All those tracks immediatly join to Lukie D’s long list of hits. Feel free to go see him on stage : a real showman, talented deejay and singer ; the kind of artist who knows how to convey emotion through his music.
