UK-based roots vocalist Tena Stelin who took the scene by storm with the release of “Wicked Invention” on Mr Modo records back in 1989 and last graced us with an album in 2004 with “Cosmic Intervention” is finally back with a new, vinyl only, album via Roots Remedy records called “Embark On A Journey”.
The album is in a roots / steppers style that comes with 5 vocal cuts on one side and 5 dubs on the other. Backing is by a full live band playing a mix of new and classic riddims, with production by Seni Idbelkas. Lyrically it’s full of consciousness and exaltations to Jah that are delivered with Tena’s usual vigour and style.
If I have one complaint about the album though it is that with just a meagre 5 vocal cuts it’s over far too soon! Still enjoy what there is of it and let’s hope he can come up with a more extended collection of songs soon.
The album is available to buy now from all good reggae outlets.
