After Wailing Souls, Yellowman and Ranking Dread, here is the new set in the Most Wanted serie that certainly deserves our attention. This time, Greensleeves focuses on Jamaican Eek-A-Mouse. Born Ripton Joseph Hylton in 1957, he’s an artist aside, with a voice as original as his name.
Between the deep and militant ‘Noah’s Ark’- Eek’s first recording with Junjo Lawes-, ‘Wild Like A Tiger’ followed by its heavy dub, ‘Operation Eradication’ inspired by the death of his friend and deejay Errol Scorcher, or the huge ‘Star, Daily News & Gleaner’, The Mousketeer is on the top. Half way between singing and deejaying style that made his own trademark. A real talented artist, who doesn’t stick to his own « bong bong biddy beng » gimmick. He also delivers serious lyrics as shown with songs such as ‘Terrorists In The City’ or ‘Do You Remember’. A recommended classic reggae compilation !
