For their fifth vinyl release, the Cubiculo Records label offers an EP pure of dub steppers composed by Digid, sung by Junior Dread, and remixed by Alpha Steppa.
Known for their quality digital dub productions, the Anglo-Portuguese Cubiculo Records are back with something in a different style! After excellent releases from Strictly Sound and Subactive, this 12" dub stepper has a new producer at the helm.
The "Crucial Stepper EP" honors Digid, young composer of dub and dubstep, a native of Flanders, Belgium. Bringing added value to the riddim is Brazilian singer Junior Dread, whose the tone of voice is reminiscent of Ky-Mani Marley. The sum of these two talents is excellent, the soaring voice of Junior Dread goes perfectly with Digid's cosmic dub.
There follow two more ruff dub versions, which, believe me, are very effective when played at full power on a sound system.
And that's not all ... to finish, Alpha Steppa has his own dub stepper remix and offers a more "punchy" feel, in line with his recent productions on his own label Steppas Records, or the group Dub Dynasty founded with his father and his aunt Alpha & Omega!
We do not know if the next release of Cubiculo Records will be stepper or digital, but the label proves they can do both, with the same quality!
