Bob Marley’s 70th birthday was celebrated in the usual style of the Marley family on February 6th at the Bob Marley Museum on 56 Hope Road, Kingston. The event started in the wee hours of the morning with Nyabinghi drumming by various members of the Rastafarian community. In the afternoon there was a concert where new talents were showcased; after which the major acts performed. Splendid performances were showcased by Tarrus Riley, Kabaka Pyramid, Iba Mahr among others. The concert was closed by Chronixx who gave an acoustic performance to the delight of the crowd.
Family members and friends who were close to Marley including former manager Allan Skill Cole, Marcia Griffiths, son Rohan Marley, granddaughter Donisha Prendergast, and graphic artiste Neville Garrick were on hand mingling with the crowd. The event was well supported, with little standing room at the peak of the celebration.
