Downtown Kingston, on the Waterfront was the venue for Redemption Live on Saturday, February 7th. The event was a celebration of The King of Reggae - Bob Marley’s 70th birthday. With a lineup of stellar artistes billed to perform on the night, thousands turned out to join in the celebration and enjoy their free performances.
Among those who patrons came to see, were the group No Madz, Marcia Griffiths, Judy Mowatt, Tarrus Riley, Freddie McGregor & Coco Tea. After a brief absence from the Jamaican scene Tessane Chin received a royal welcome from the crowd. The ‘Fire Man’ Capleton took the stage and proceeded to radiate heat with his social commentaries and energetic moves. The show was turned up a notch when the Marley family graced the stage at the end of the night. First up was Kymani Marley who mesmerized the crowd with several of his hits and invited Protoje on stage to do their current hit single, Rasta Love. He was followed by his brothers Julian Marley and Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley who both performed songs like Exodus, Revelation, Welcome to Jamrock, Gunman World, No More Trouble and War. The night was brought to another level when all three graced the stage and did Get Up and Stand Up a song made popular by their dad. The event was hosted by the Bob Marley Foundation in collaboration with Telecommunications company Digicel.
