The Blue Mountain Music Festival took place in the cool misty hills of Holywell National Recreation Park in St Andrew on February 21st and 22nd 2015.
The Saturday night saw performances from Duane Stephenson, Chevaughn, Shuga, Fantan Mojah and Freddie McGregor.
Unfortunately due to adverse weather conditions on the Saturday morning the stage show began nearly six hours behind schedule. The decision to run the full programme rather than cutting straight to the main acts meant many festival goers took the shuttle buses back to Kingston rather than staying to see the headliners.
The Blue Mountain Music Festival team issued the following in a press release calling the weather issues "An act from god we cannot do battle with."
"On Friday afternoon the mountains experience a harsh cold front, making the conditions impossible for the service providers to do any pre-set up. The BMMF team was faced with the decision to either cancel the show or wait it out. The decision was made to wait it out. The cold front broke at app 10.00 am Saturday; all involved tried their hardest to set up stage, sound, lights, and all other amenities within the shortest possible time frame."
By contrast the drier, less muddy Sunday started on time and was a musical success. A rootsier line up included Notis with Australian singer Natali Rize, Uprising Roots band, Rootz Underground featuring Brina, veterans Mystic Revealers and Tarrus Riley.
If the logistical issues can be sorted out, this festival's rarefied atmosphere and beautiful location make it a unique weekend of nature and reggae music.
