The 23rd staging of Reggae Sumfest was recently held at Catherine Hall, Montego Bay over the period, July 16-18, 2015. The festival, which is considered one of the largest reggae festival in this side of the hemisphere, attracted patrons from across the island and overseas.
As is customary, Dancehall Night attracted the largest number of patrons. Although a number of the current artistes were away on overseas duties, the organizers still managed to put a reasonably solid lineup together. Among those who graced the stage on the night were Gaza Slim, Ishawna, Demarco and Bugle. Dexter Daps who was appearing on Reggae Sumfest for the first time also gave a solid performance.
Female DJ Spice made her usual grand appearance in a limited outfit and launched into a lyrical attack on her main arch rival Lady Saw. Well anticipated new sensation, Gully Bop easily warmed the hearts of the crowd waiting to see if he still had it in him. He brought his partner, Ms. Chin on stage along with two other upcoming artiste. The Bop did not disappoint and delivered a lyrically masterful set. Other artistes such as Capleton, Konshens, Aidonia and Popcaan all delivered well. For the first time in the history of the festival the event was closed by a female. Lady Saw had much time to analyze the crowd and her main detractor, Spice. Dressed in a lovely bluish white outfit she immediately switched into high gear upon entering the stage. With her years of experience she was able to deliver a high energy and very entertaining performance.
