In 1977 Bob Marley released his album Exodus which has now become a master piece and was selected as album of the millennium 1999. The album symbolizes the Rastafarian ‘Back to Africa’ movement, which is most reflected in songs such as Exodus where he sings ‘movement of Jah people”.
In her book Exodus! Heirs and Pioneers, Rastafari Return to Ethiopia, French author, Dr. Giulia Bonacci seeks to track the history of the movement over the last 50 years. Originally published in French in 2010 by Editions L’Harmattan, it has been translated into English and was being made available for the first time to an English speaking audience. The launch of the English version was fittingly held at the University of the West Indies, Mona in Kingston Jamaica on Friday, August 21st and is being published by The University of the West Indies Press.
