This is an intriguing and totally enjoyable release. UK outfit Dubheart appeared on a BBC series about hard-working bands (“Britain’s Best Part Time Band”) in 2016, and as part of the deal they were required to perform four cover songs.
So here we have Sugar Minott’s cover of Michael Jackson’s Good Thing Going, Johnny Clarke’s sound system classic Blood Dunza, The Beatles A Hard Day’s Night (filtered through Pat Kelly’s cover) and Pablo Moses’ Music Is My Desire – a personal favourite!
Not only do we get them the Dubheart way, but there are also two dubs of each, with Fullness at the controls, and two horns players from Scottish outfit Bombskare also helping out on Blood Dunza. Dubheart has never disappointed me yet, and though this is a little different, it keeps up this outfit’s reputation for first class sounds.
