This No Doubt records release featuring Chezidek and Natty King is produced by Jamaica’s rising Kemar 'Flava' McGregor and has a real back to basics feel, with riddims made just using the holy four of guitar, bass, drum and keyboard. They are kept plain and simple, allowing the vocals from this soulfully sounding pair and their content to take centre stage. Some of this riddims are well known such as the 2005 Triumphant riddim, which gave Gyptian the hit Mama, while others are newer.
This compilation though is really all about the lyric, as first Natty King and then Chezidek compliment rather than trade against each other. At this time of year when we are encouraged to give peace and goodwill to all men that is exactly what this pairing are asking of the listener, with the majority of songs on show having a strong spiritual, one love vibe that also says to take a hard look at ourselves when wanting to find the answers, as often they come from within.

This is a good compilation of Flava's work with this 2 good singers. They both give their version on No Doubt records riddim and they all sound good, sweet and soft. 2009 has been a prolific year for Kemar 'Flava' McGregor and his No Doubt label with the release of 2 riddims (Rock Steady and the great Ghetto riddim) but also the release of albums Trodding by Natty King, Vibes by Glen Washington, Music by Lutan Fyah and Let Jah Be Praised by Teflon ! |
