The Jamaica Recording Industry Association held their monthly general meeting Youth Forum recently at the Edna Manley College of Visual & Performing Arts. The Forum on "The Jamaican Music Industry: its present state and the way forward" was the meeting's theme. Among the specially invited guest were Chronixx, Lisa McDonald and Chino McGregor. While several important topics were raised, there was significant focus on the use of the internet and the role it plays in the success of the new generation of artistes. Other issues raised were gender equality in the business, and the impact of the radio DJ's on the success (or failure) of an artiste.
The event also attracted several key players in the music industry such as one of the most accomplished tour manager Copeland Forbes. Herbie Miller, former manager for Peter Tosh, bass player Lloyd Parks were also present and contributed to the fulfilling and productive debates.
