Ketch A Fire

A retro, digital style various artist compilation album.

Ketch A FireCompliments to the Kemist on his new Ketch A Fire album release. Comprised of a whopping 19 tracks from a slew of UK reggae’s household names, this latest addition from the Kemist’s production line will be well received on turntables and dancehalls far and wide.

Kris Kemist is a record producer and founder of the UK-based independent label (that releases this compilation) called Reality Shock Records. His credibility in the arena has been long assured, via the quality of his produce and track record in working with such luminaries as Errol Dunkley, Fred Locks, Macka B, Earl Sixteen and Tippa Irie.

The Kemist’s reggae-related productions have been described by the BBC as ‘heavy enough for the UK dub rigs, yet melodic enough for home listening’. Well whatever about that, his golden touch has also enabled vocalist Tony Anthony to score Nos. 1 and 2 in the Italian and New York reggae charts respectively.

This latest compilation has been described as being in a ‘retro digital style’, designed to pay homage to 1980’s Jamaica, as advanced by the likes of Jammys, Steelie and Clevie, Gussie Clarke etc. It features Tippa Irie, General Levy, Solo Banton, Donovan Kingjay, Jah Screechy, Dixie Peach, King Kong, Daddy Freddy and many more, with a special treat for dub lovers via 4 fine tracks at the compilation’s close.

Ketch A Fire was released on April 30th, 2018 and is available from Reality Shock Records on CD and digital download.
