Nyahbinghi in the 21st century.

Prof I - Iyahbhinghi RedemptionJamaican music genre nyahbinghi had its heydays in the 70’s with groups such as Ras Michael & The Sons of Negus, The Light of Saba and Count Ossie & Mystic Revelation of Rastafari. Apart from their recordings back in the day, not much of this acoustic and percussion heavy music has been heard outside groundations, i.e. Rastafarian gatherings.

Prof I, a Jamaican elderly rastaman chanter, has however recently dropped his debut album 'Iyahbhinghi Redemption', an album packed with chants and relentless drumming. He made his first appearances in 1967 and also performed at the legendary One Love Peace Concert in 1977.

'Iyahbhinghi Redemption' is now available on digital platforms and CD directly from the label Runn Records.
