Legendary studio celebrated with new box set.

Randy’s Studio in Kingston, Jamaica, was established in 1967 and rapidly turned into one of the primary destinations for a host of Jamaica’s upcoming producers and musicians.

Roots Rock RandysThe combination of vision and skill shared by the studio’s resident producer and engineer Clive Chin and engineer Errol Thompson, assisted by a small group of peerless house musicians, encouraged the creation of audio masterpieces in every reggae style, including heavy roots and futuristic dub.

14 of these gems are now gathered together on original label 45’s in a 7 x 7” box set of vintage style sleeves. The collection covers the years 1971 to 1975 and includes Augustus Pablo’s & Bongo Herman’s Java Passion, Hortense Ellis’ version of Marlena Shaw’s Woman of the Ghetto and Black Uhuru’s Going to Zion. Each of the seven vocals is followed by its dub version on the flip side.

'Roots Rock Randy’s' – as the box set is titled – drops on October 29th in the UK, on October 30th in USA and on Novvember 2nd in the rest of Europe.
