Hot Milk Records – a subsidiary of Cherry Red Records – is set to release The Mighty Diamonds’ 'Planet Earth' and 'Planet Mars Dub' on one CD in a showcase style, i.e. each vocal is followed by its dub counterpart.
The Mighty Diamonds are arguably one of the best and most successful all vocal trios during the roots reggae era with their sweet soul harmonies and conscious lyrics. And the showcase style gives the listener a chance to hear the vocal and dub back to back and experience the full extended nature of the tunes.
'Planet Earth' has never been released on CD and 'Planet Mars Dub' is increasingly becoming more difficult and expensive to find and this is also the first time that these two albums have been presented together. The disc contains 20 tracks with over 74 minutes of classic roots reggae.
Sleeve notes are provided by reggae expert and journalist John Masouri. Singers and players include Sly Dunbar on drums, Tommy McCook on saxophone, Earl "Chinna" Smith on guitar and production by Karl Pitterson at Compass Point Studios, Nassau, Bahamas.
'Planet Earth/Planet Mars Dub' hits the streets in late April.
