Mike Pelanconi, mastermind behind Prince Fatty, has been busy in his Brighton Ironworks studio finishing Hollie Cook’s forthcoming second vocal album. But he’s also announced a new independent project, featuring legendary Studio 1 vocalist Winston “Mr Fix It” Francis, and he’s asking their fans to help.
He’s requested they show their support by pre-ordering copies of 'Prince Fatty Meets Winston Francis in King Cool' at crowdfunding site PledgeMusic. In return for donations, givers can receive a variety of incentives from a download of the album (£8) to a signed LP (£29) to an executive producer’s credit (£2500).
In a message on the site Prince Fatty said
"Winston Francis is a truly gifted artist, songwriter and singer whose unique style and delivery of a song is second to none. The opportunity for me to record and make an album with Winston is a dream come true, and the selection of planned songs includes new material as well as some favourites, all of which will be recorded “Fatty” style with our supersized band in my own studio. Why not get involved and support Winston “King Cool” Francis?"
10% of the funds raised will be donated to Brighton-based charity MOSAIC Black and Mixed Parentage Family Group.
“Their incredible work seeks to empower Black and Mixed Parentage families, providing them with the tools to tackle and overcome racism and its effects, strengthen family life, support and raise learning aspirations, explore cultural heritage and develop positive Black identities in Britain.”
