The 27th IRAWMA will take place May 4, 2008 at the Apollo Theater in New York, USA. And the nominees are !

The next International Reggae and World Music Awards is back at the Apollo Theater in New York, USA. The event will take place on May, 4. An official announcement of the nominees was made at the Hilton Hotel in New Kingston, Jamaica. To name some of them : Tarrus Riley is nominated in 7 seven categories, including Best Male Vocalist and Best Song, for the hit She’s Royal, Movado is nominated five including Best Male DJ, and Best Album. Queen Ifrica received 3 nominations including Best Female Vocalist and Tony Rebel is nominated for Emperor Haile Selassie I Award for "Spiritual Sevice Through Music". Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Stephen Marley, Shaggy, and Sean Kingston all received four nominations, while Kymani Marley, Junior Reid received three nominations.

Many famous reggae & dancehall artists should share the mic on next May, 4. Featuring Beenie Man, Kymani Marley, Doug E. Fresh, Sean Kingston, Tarrus Riley, Etana, Dean Fraser, Winsome Benjamin, Queen Ifrica, Mutabaruka, Cecile, Junior Reid and Dwight Pickney. Buju Banton will be among the presenters for the star studded event. More performers will be announced soon…

The IRWAMA launched an official online voting system available through its website. Internet users are invited to vote for each of 40 categories until April 20, 2008. So don’t be late, make it a date !
