VP Records comes with two new compilations titled Reggae Legends, due out on August on its 17 North Parade imprint. First box is dedicated to Dennis Brown (view compilation) and features four of his albums released in the 1990’s : Nothing Like This produced by Junior Reid in 1994 for Greensleeves, two albums produced by Mikey Bennet, Blazing released in 1992, and Over Proof out in 1990, plus Vision Of A Reggae King, produced by Tony Cameron and Glen Ricks, out on Gold Mine label in 1994.
Freddie McGregor’s box (view compilation) includes Anything For You released in 2002, and three albums produced by the great Jamaican Augustus ‘Gussie’ Clarke for Greensleeves: Hard To Get and Carry Go Bring Home, both originally released in 1993, and Rumours, out in 1997.
Two digital roots reggae compilations reminding that Dennis Brown and Freddie McGregor followed to release killers during the 1990’s. Probably more Reggae Legends to come soon…
