In order to pay tribute to Lucky Dube, tragically killed one year ago, on October 17th , 2007 (read news), Rykodisc label releases Retrospective, a 13 tracks album celebrating the musical work of one the African Reggae legend. Curated by Tom Schnabel of KCRW, the 2 cds pack retraces Dube’s career from his first songs in 1982 to his last effort in 2006. It also includes a bonus DVD, featuring a 90-minute concert, “Lucky Dube Live In Concert,” plus five music videos never before released in the U.S.

The South African Reggae King released more than 20 albums since the early 80’s. He was one of the icons of African reggae, well known for his militant reggae. While he dropped his children off at his brother’s home in Rosettenville, South Africa, he was shot in a car-jacking.

Retrospective is due out in stores on October, 21th.
