New documentary film about history and culture of roots reggae & rasta movement in Jamaica.

“Holding On To Jah - The genesis of a Revolution” is a documentary film about the history and culture of roots Reggae music and the Rastafarian movement in Jamaica. It brings into focus the critical roles played by Marcus Garvey, and the 225th Emperor of Ethiopia, His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie.

The film was directed by Roger Landon Hall and produced by Harrison Stafford, singer of the San Fancisco reggae band Groundation. According to the American director Jonathan Demmes : "Holding on to Jah is so very beautiful. The film comes forth with tremendous confidence, respect, trust, love, and commitment to truth and transcendent spirituality. Cinematically, I am all thumbs up! Every creative aspect shines in full effect. There are editorial passages and hallucinatory stylistic techniques that I have never seen before. I watched it, fell in love with it, and delighted to a second viewing."

The documentary features interviews with several veterans like Prince Alla, Bernard Collins, Pablo Moses, The Congos, Joseph Hill, U-Roy, Apple Gabriel, Winston McAnuff, Ijahman Levi, Ras Michael or Sugar Minott.

Awaiting to see it in 2010 festivals, watch the trailer and a scene of the film :
