This year’s prestigious Grammy award for Best Reggae Album went to Stephen Marley for his acoustic version of ‘Mind Control’, which also won this prize two years ago on its original release. It was a strong field this year with Stephen beating off nominations for Buju Banton with ‘Rasta Got Soul’, Sean Paul’s ‘Imperial Blaze’, the legend that is Gregory Isaacs and his ‘Brand New Me’ album, plus one for his half brother Julian with his release ‘Awake’, on which he features as well.
Ziggy Marley completed a good night for the family when ‘Family Time’ won a Grammy for Best Musical Album for Children. This was Ziggy’s 5th Grammy award but his first away from Best Reggae Album, which he has won 4 times since his first in 1989 with ‘Conscious Party’.
