Sad news, the Jamaican singer passed away on Saturday in Kingston from prostate cancer.

Sampler

Tyrone Taylor known for his 1983 hit Cottage In A Negril was 50 years old and suffered two strokes these last years. He passed away on last Saturday in Kingston from prostate cancer.

Although he was in the music throughout the 1970's recording songs as the heavy Sufferation in 1978 produced by Niney The Observer on Weed Beat label, Tyrone Taylor didn't know success until his biggest hit issued from the 1983 great album Cottage In A Negril released on Love Time label. Three years later, he recorded an other set with Ken Boothe entitled Two Of A Kind released in 1987 on Tuff Gong and came back in 1994 with the hit Rainy Sunset.

One more great singer who leaves. RIP.

Sad news indeed as another of Jamiaca's great but largely unspoken talents passes with hardly a murmur. His gritty soulful voice blessed numerous good tunes and spoke to the heart. Duane Stephenson sings a sadly timely but lovely version of "Cottage in Negril" on his "From August Town" album. Sleep peacefully Tyrone. Jah Bless!
