In late November dancehall superstar Mr. Vegas urged music fans and fellow artists to sign a petition to save foundation reggae music. And now he is about to release an album full of versions of early reggae hit songs as well as an album with his biggest and most recent dancehall tunes.
The reggae album is titled 'Sweet Jamaica Reggae' and is a tribute to the music pioneers that created and defined Jamaica's signature sound in the late 1950s and '60s. Included are his anthemic Josey Wales and Shaggy combination Sweet Jamaica alongside the more recently released You Make Me Happy – a remake of Alton Ellis' cover of Motown singer Brenda Holloway's Top Ten hit.
'Sweet Jamaica Dancehall' gathers 16 tracks including Certain Law, Bruck it Dung, I Am Blessed and a few brand new exclusive tracks.
Both albums hit the streets on 7 February in celebration of Jamaica's 50th Anniversary.
