Popular radio disc jockey Michael Jones, a.k.a Mighty Mike, was found dead at his home in Ocho Rios yesterday. According to reports, his coworkers got curious when he did not show up for his popular radio program “Right Stuff” which is aired on IRIE FM.
Born in Mandeville, Manchester, Mighty Mike was one of the leading disc jockeys on IRIE FM having been there since the inception of Jamaica’s first and only reggae radio station in the early nineties. Mighty Mike was also once a night club owner, show promoter and record producer having produced a remake of the Studio One rhythm “Drum Song”. The veteran DJ started his music career in the hotel industry having worked at Hedonism 11 as a resident DJ. Reports are that a few days before his death he had complained about feeling some amount of pain. Mighty Mike was fifty two years old and a diabetic at the time of his passing. He is survived by his only son, DJ Sani.
