U.S. based Sick Donkey Records – founded by BlueJay and singer Essential I – is back with the follow-up to their Standing Firm riddim released in 2009.
World Needs is the title of their latest riddim project, and consists of collaborations and individual contributions between well-known artists and composers as well as lesser known upcoming artists from Jamaica, Sweden and particularly from the U.S.
Included are Essential I, who is joined by the Hawaii-based male-female vocal duo The Lambsbread, Lutan Fyah, Jahson Ites joins forces with veteran Rocker T, Junior Toots – son of Toots Hibbert of Toots & The Maytals – is forging his own powerful career and teams up with Ishi Dube, Adrian Xavier expresses his vision for the world, Jah Sun is in a combination with Chezidek, and Hailee Araya, with roots in Sweden and Ethiopia, comes with a minor key vibrato that echoes traditional Ethiopian music.
World Needs riddim is now available on digital platforms worldwide.
